Here is an easy taco meat filling that you can make and still have plenty of leftovers for chili, burritos or freeze for another day. It has become a family favorite and the kids don't mind all the chunky veggies.
Ingredients
3 pounds ground beef
1 diced onion
2-3 cups of any salsa (we love Pace)
Montreal Seasoning to taste or a blend of salt, pepper, and garlic seasoning will do too.
Toss in the diced onion and saute over medium-high heat, with a bit of cooking oil. Once the onions have browned a bit, add the ground beef along with your seasonings and brown. Once the ground beef has browned, add the salsa. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
You can use this meat to fill tacos, burritos, top over rice, lettuce wraps, stuffed bell peppers or tomatoes. You might also toss in cooked pintos and or kidney beans, diced potatoes, or add your favorite BBQ sauce for a real southern Sloppy Joe.
